Kerry God's Man

I am watching the Kerry-Edwards campaign rally from Iowa on C-Span. There is a singer leading the crowd in the song “On the Wings of a Dove”. He ended with God language. Last week Kerry was in a church where the pastor called him God’s appointed man to be president.

I thought that was the problem with the Bush, that he was using God rhetoric?

I think they may both be up to shenanigans.

Crazy.

In a time when gay Bishops are appointed to church leadership, why should it be so surprising that “Christian leaders”, with liberal (morally unrestrained) interpretations of God's character and boundaries, might endorse a candidate such as Kerry? Especially, when it’s plain that Kerry’s advisors are hoping to boost his approval rating with people of all-inclusive faith (anyone can quote scripture during a debate, but I’m sorry, we’re NOT all God’s children).

It saddens me to read comments like, “the church has prostituted itself to the Republican party” and “at least he [Kerry] can leave God out of his political career.” It’s unfortunate that many of us have become so cynical and bitter about our political parties. God MUST be involved in our elected officials lives, not by lip service or church attendance, but through a vital relationship with Him.

I refer to the words of Noah Webster, when he said, "When you become entitled to exercise the right of voting for public officers, let it be impressed on your mind that God commands you to choose for rulers, just [RIGHTEOUS] men who will rule in the fear of God.”

i pity anyone who attempts to factor in spiritual/religious integrity into who, out of these two candidates, to vote for. i've done what i feel makes it easy for me, i don't even consider the ingredient of "faith/deeds" that both of these guys talk about. they both lie and slander each other to no end, just to make each other look better, more honorable to the electorate. their behavior is so far from representing the love of Christ, it's pretty sad.

i will vote for the guy who does not claim that his policy is guided by "God's Hand". that would be john kerry. that doesn't mean i think he is the answer to our problems, but at least he can leave God out of his political career.

I will say whatever it takes to get elected...

to the advisory board of the publishing arm of PagittCorp.

It seems as though so much of the church has prostituted itself to the Republican party that if Kerry is to win much support there he needs to go all out.

It would be far better if he were to pursue a more excellent way and expose the rhetoric for the disgrace that so much of it is. But it would be a risky strategy, and this election doesn't seem to be working out that way.

I was surprised at how much Christian-speak Kerry
used in the last debate and how much Bush avoided it. It was like they were each trying to appeal to the other's party. My world has been turned upside down! What do I do now?
