MPR, the best national radio station in the country, played a speech given a fews weeks ago about Iraq.
It is an excellent presentation that makes sense of the Neo-conservative position, held by Cheney, Wolfowitz, and Rumsfeld. For those who are befuddled by what these guys are doing you will appreciate this presentation.
I do not agree with the neo-cons, but I understand what they are about and so it has made their actions easier to understand and converse about, and even easier to disagree with on particulars. I have been aware of it since the early 1990's. There views took over the Bush administration after 9-11-01. For those who have said, "these guys were planning to overthrow Sadam since before 9-11-01" are right, and there are ideological reasons for doing so. It was step one of a particular world view and this view was empowered by the attacks.
So if you are up for a listen, and can handle a description of a position from someone who does not hold it himself, and are willing to accept that people with whom we may disagree have a reason for their views, give it a listen.
It is at this link, played on December 20, in the second hour of midday and was called, "The Iraq war: run up and reconstruction".
