Emerging Church debate/conversation
Friday, January 20, I will be part of a discussion, sort of a debate but not that formal, with Bob Deway, the pastor of a church in Minneapolis called Twin Cities Fellowship.
Bob and have not met but did have a pleasant chat about this event. I think it will be fun for us and informative for others.
The event is open to all so come along if you would like. TCF has this information on their website:
Debate: The Emergent Church and Postmodern Spirituality
Dangerous Trends or Necessary Changes for Evangelicalism?
You are invited to come and hear Doug Pagitt from Solomon’s Porch and Bob DeWaay from Twin City Fellowship, both from Minneapolis discuss the above topics.
Doug Pagitt a nationally known leader of the Emergent Church movement.
Bob DeWaay has published an article critical of this movement.
When: January 20, 2006 – 7:00pm
Where: Twin City Fellowship; 2315 Nicollet Ave. S. Minneapolis (corner of 24th Street and Nicollet Ave)
The event is free and there is no registration.
For more information: 612-874-7484

I am also very interested in a transcript, an audio or a video recording of the debate.

I called the TCF office and got this answer:
Just the opening remarks and rebuttals will be online. You'll have to buy the CD or DVD to get the whole debate. This will help them offset some of the cost of the debate.

Please call the TCF Church office with your questions about how it will be available. 612-874-7484
Or watch the CIC website for more info following the debate: http://www.cicministry.org/
If the audio is made available for download it will probably be here: http://www.oneplace.com/ministries/critical_issues_commentary/
But I am just guessing. I am not in charge of these decisions.

Scott-
If I buy a DVD, can I rip it an put it online?
I actually can't make it (have another commitment) but am more than happy to get it online for folks who want to see/hear it.

Yeah - I'd love to hear this...though I probably wouldn't pay to get a DVD.

Just wanted to throw in my desire to hear this as well. I'm in Colorado... no cash for gas and to long of a drive. :)

Hi all,
I am a member of TCF Church and I thought I would let you all know that we plan to video tape the debate and make it available on DVD.
By the way, all our seats are old fashioned unpadded pews. So bring your own cusion or pillow if needed. :-)

Bob DeWaay seems to be closely affiliated with Jan Markell. Hate to use the word crazy, but adjectives to describe Jan Markall escape me.

I'll be there and am planning to record it (participants willing). I'm not sure if they'll be miked or not, but I can get a decent recording either way ;-)

I join with the others... would like to hear this!
I hope it turns out more of a conversation than debate though... but that's just me.

I won't be able to be there, but is it going to be recorded in any way for those of us who cannot go?

I too am wondering whether a recording of this will be available online for those of us not fortunate enough to live in Minnesota.

I would probably pay for a podcast of this, sure to be interesting debate. Any chance it will be recorded, or do I have to fly to Minneapolis?
