came today. It said it was an advance copy, so I am not sure if the real copies have been shipped yet.
If you are not familiar with the book it is is edited by Robert Webber, whose health has been severe in the last months, and includes John Burke, Dan Kimball, Karen Ward, Mark Driscoll and me.
We each wrote from our perspective of theology and responded to one another. Robert then reflected on the writings and responses.
Robert gives each of us title: I am called the Embodied one, John is the Incarnational one, Karen is the Communal one, Mark is the Biblicist, and Dan is the Rockabily.
No, Dan is the Missional one.
The titles aren't perfect but pretty good. They will be a way for people to get their hands on the topic. Perhaps like all the authors I feel that I would be best described as an incarnational, biblical, communal, missional, embodied one.
I am interested in how the book sells and if it is helpful. The project came up last summer just before Robert's illness.
This is top quality book in all ways, from the content to the paper, and I am proud to be part of it.
This book comes out in a proximity to the Emergent Manifesto of Hope book. Which is also multiple author but different in approach. LTTBOEC (Quiet and acronym) is about beliefs almost entirely, and the scope of the book did not lend itself to practices or communal patterns of those beleifs. The Manifesto is future focused, visionary and an inspiring account of what Emergent is about and hopes to contribute. It has an element of belief, but is more broad and descriptive.
The Manifesto is do out in March/April.:

nice, but I am going to save my coin for the manifesto...even though andrew jones gives this one such a good review
